Genocide in Darfur

     A genocide is a mass murder of people. A genocide has been happening in Darfur,Sudan, since 2003. Darfur is not the only place to deal with a genocide; Argentina had one in the 1970s. In result of the genocide in Darfur, many people are being killed, and people forced out of their homes and to go to refugee camps. This is happening because they are not Arab.
     The Arabs doing this to Darfur are called Janjaweed.People who buy oil from Sudan help pay them.It's very dangerous for help to come to Darfur because the Janjaweed can attack.They also kill witnesses who see people being killed.Beautiful areas are being destroyed by the Janjaweed.
     Several different programs around the world help Darfur. The World Food Program donates over forty thousand tons of food each year.The Red Cross also helps out too.
     Some people think you cant do much here for Darfur, but you can actually can do a lot. You can keep up with current news about genocides and find out ways of help. You can also tell people you know about genocides and help join the effort.
